Miss Kirkham's Last Day

On Friday it was Miss Kirkham's last day in Room 13!!!

She has been a fantastic teacher and we have loved every minute of her being with us.

We had a few games to celebrate Miss Kirkham's last day. We played musical chairs, corners, musical statues, pass the kiwi and sang some songs. It was SO much fun.

Thank you for being such an awesome teacher Miss Kirkham and thank you for the goodie bags with the pencils, rubbers and stamps. You were very kind.

We miss Miss Kirkham already but she has promised to pop in to see us once her exams are finished.

Auckland Library Roadshow

Today the Auckland Library Roadshow came to Sunnyhills School. We had a lot of fun listening to stories, dancing and playing parts in a story. One of the visitors dressed up as a Grandma, he was very funny!

Library time

We LOVE our library sessions. The picture books are awesome and the chapter books are interesting too. We are enjoying sitting in all the different seats that we can choose from.

Pirate Polly

We read the big book Pirate Polly. We made treasure maps and we wrote descriptions of Pirate Polly. Come and take a look at them in Room 13. They are amazing.

Our News Book

We have been sharing our news and building up our News Book. To do this we share news with a partner. One person is the speaker and one the listener, then we swap over. We were using glue sticks as microphones until Mrs Gilmer bought us some lovely new microphones to use. THANK YOU Mrs Gilmer! You rock!

Our News Book

Following the teacher's professional development with Jill Eggleton, we have started a class News Book. Each day we share our news with each other. One person is the speaker and has a microphone and the other person listens, making relevant comments and asking questions. Each day one person is chosen to share their news in the news book. Their news it typed up and the person illustrates their writing. Come in and have a look through our News Book if you have time. It is very cute. Here is what we have done so far.

Literacy Week Character Parade

We had such a lot of fun at the character parade this morning. Mrs Burge was so very happy to have found her two lost brother pigs and she also found a cousin pig to play with too.

Grandparents and Parents Reading During Literacy Week

We were so lucky to have both Grandparents and Parents come to Read to our class. Thank you so much for giving up your time to read to us. We LOVED it!!
